limits

well limits were pretty confusing to me, like there was certain things i still dont understand, for example: limit of int x as x ->3+. i dont understand the whole right and left hand limits. Also i dont understand when u have to identfy a limit as x->infinity or -infinity! lets see also a problem i couldnt figure out was: the limit of sin2x/x as x->0. well those were pretty much the main things i didnt understand!!

  1. when identifying limits as x approach infinity you have to picture the problem with huge numbers instead of the x. then if you have this problem 1/x you can ask to yourself what's the answer when 1 is divided by 100000000 for example,,,it'll give you 00000000.1... it'll very close to zeroo .That's why it's said that its zero. and it's the same with the other problems :)

  2. What do you mean by identifying limits as x-->infinity? You mean just in finding them once they already ask you to take the limit as x-->infinity? Or do you mean when do you know when to take the limit as x-->infinity?

If the latter, the only time you yourself must choose to take the limit as x-->infinity is when looking for horizontal asymptotes.
