The function f(x) from the graph f'(x)!!!!

1. The graph is increasing at (-2,0)U(0,2).

it is decreasing at (-infinity, -2)U(2, + infinity).

I know this b/c the graph shown is the slope of f(x) :. the graph between(-2,0)U(0,2) is outputting positive numbers, while the graph between (-infinity, -2)U(2, +infinity) is outputting negative numbers!

2. The extremas on the graph are when x= -1.25, 0, and 1.25.

These are the extremas because when its slope is negative and then changes to postive that point inbetween is the minimum. whn its slope is positive then changes to negative, the pint inbw=between is your maximum.

3. The function is concave up when f''(x)>0, and concave down when f''(x)<0:.>

the graph is concave down at (-1.25,0)U( 1.25, +infintiy)

4. the power function to this graph is x^5, b/c f'(x) is a function to the fourth power, you can just tell by the graph. well u just have go backwards, the derivative of the function f(x)=x^5, is x^4 it goes down a power.

Mindset

I'm pretty sure that im of the fixed mindset. I stick to what i know, and dont really take on challenges besides this class. Although i feel like just giving up and try some other time, something inside me doesnt let me give up.hmm This fixed mindset hasn't really helped me in math alot, because i just cant get anything calc related stuck in my brain. I hope my brain likes to be trained, but if not too bad cuz thats whats been happening for the past mester. I think all of this information might help me in the future because maybe ill change because of this class, or if i dont change well then im screwed XD!

limits

well limits were pretty confusing to me, like there was certain things i still dont understand, for example: limit of int x as x ->3+. i dont understand the whole right and left hand limits. Also i dont understand when u have to identfy a limit as x->infinity or -infinity! lets see also a problem i couldnt figure out was: the limit of sin2x/x as x->0. well those were pretty much the main things i didnt understand!!

Colleges!!!!

1.) Okay, well the 3 college majors that interest me are: Mechanic and Repair Technologies. I found out that this major allows you to learn about the technology of vehicles and electronics, And be able to repair both technologies. through vehicles category, you also can learn about air craft equipment and be able to repair those too. Another major that interested me was, Education. what i found out about majoring in education is that you can pretty much teach ayhting to everyone and it can be something as helping teach the special needs children and teach a second or third language to teenagers like me. Computer and information Sciences also interest me. this major includes computer programming, computer forensics and robotics. which are pretty cool!

2.) the college im interested in attending for Mechanic and Repair Technologies is Western New Mexico Universtiy. it is a 4-year coed public school that offer an associates, Bachelors and Masters degree. Majoring in Education, Prescott college is the one for me! XD. hmm it is a private coed school that offeres a bachelors, masters and doctoral degree! Mojoring in computer and information sciences, vermont technical college is the place to be! they are a public coed school with 62% of applicants submitted. they offer an associates and a maters degree!

Logarithms and INVERSES!!!

Well a couple things i have learned and actually understood about inverses:

1.) is that a functions inverses is mainly switching the inputs and outputs. For example,

X Y if that where my function, the inverse of that function would be instead of (1,3), it'd
1 3 be (3,1). so your outputs now become ur inputs and vise-versa!!!
2 5

2.) Also the inverse of a function will always reflect among the y=x line. as shown below:

3.) also in order to determine whether or not a function has an inverse, you should use the HORIZONTAL LINE TEST!!
4.)LOGARITHMS!!!!
an important rule is logb^x=n means b^n=x
Well i didnt understand alot about logs. like i wasnt sure if i should use the "ln" or if it wasnt even necessary. And all the rules can be pretty confusing!!!!

Even and Odd Fcns!!!!

when dealing with functions, If you end up with the exact same function that you started with, For example, f(–x) = f(x), so all of the signs are the same, then the function is even. If you end up with the exact opposite of what you started with for example, f(–x) = –f(x), so all of the "+" signs become "-" signs, then the function is odd. This mirroring about the axis is an even function.

An example of an odd function would be a graph that looks like this:
The mathematical view of A function is y = f(x) is an even function of
x if f(-x) = f(x),odd function of x if
f(-x) = -f(x), for every x in the function's domain.
These two views of even and odd fcns, both prove the same thing.

About Me!!!!

My name is Jessica and i made this blog for my calculus class. Math has always been my favorite subject, but now im not so sure it is! I am a junior in high school and im in the schools marching band, its pretty lame and i dont have much of a life anymore because of it, and hmmmm my interests are playing some sports here and there at the park with my family, and also hanging outwith my friends and thats all for now. i guess
